Invoice details, handled

From the first edit to the PDF you share.

01

Make the details fit the customer

Edit billing and shipping details, invoice numbers, dates, PO references, payment references, and notes. These invoice display edits leave the Shopify order and its financial records unchanged.

02

Keep every document on brand

Add your logo and business details. Save templates with your choice of layout, color, typography, labels, visible fields, and footer. Preview template changes using sample invoice data.

03

See changes before you save

Watch the invoice preview update as you edit. Download the current preview, including unsaved changes, or save a version first when you want to keep a record.

04

Return to the right version

Name saved invoice versions, view or download earlier documents, and restore an earlier order or draft-order invoice as a new version. Earlier versions remain in the history.

05

Prepare PDFs for your workflow

Print individual invoices or download PDFs with configurable filenames. For Shopify orders, select up to 25 on the current list page to print together or download in one PDF containing separate invoices.

06

Show what has been paid

Present Shopify payment information, refunds, and the remaining balance or credit. Add manual payment entries for your invoice records. These entries do not collect money or update Shopify payments.

07

Keep eligible installments together

Split an eligible non-taxable draft quote into 2 to 12 payment-collection draft orders. A combined invoice shows the original quote once, alongside installment payment status and the remaining balance. See the split-payment limits below.

08

Work from Shopify Admin

Open invoice editing through More actions on orders and draft orders. InvoiceWrench Admin blocks provide access to saved invoice versions and their PDFs, with a separate Split Payment action for draft orders.

The workflow

Start in Shopify. Finish with a clear invoice.

  1. 01

    Start with an order

Find a Shopify order or draft order in InvoiceWrench, or open its invoice from Shopify Admin.

  2. 02

    Review the document

Use your default template, adjust invoice details, and check the live preview.

  3. 03

    Save and prepare

Save a named version for your records, then print or download the invoice to share yourself.

Good to know

A few practical questions.

Does editing an invoice change my Shopify order?

Invoice field edits change what appears on the document. They do not change the underlying order, customer record, line items, or Shopify financial records. Manual payment entries are also invoice records only. Creating a split payment is a separate action that creates new Shopify draft orders and adds linking notes to the source quote.

Can I download a PDF before saving?

Yes. The order and draft-order editors can download the current preview with unsaved edits. Downloading does not save a version. Save first if you need that document in your history. The separate invoice view and its print action use saved content rather than unsaved editor changes.

How do bulk invoices work?

Select up to 25 Shopify orders on the current Orders page. Bulk printing opens their invoices together; PDF download produces one file containing the separate invoices, using saved overrides and the default template. This does not merge orders or create one consolidated customer bill. Selection resets when the loaded orders change. Printing skips unavailable orders with a notice; PDF download stops if any selection is unavailable. Bulk actions are not offered for draft orders.

What are the limits of split payments?

Split payments create installment draft orders for eligible open, non-taxable quotes. They do not automatically charge a customer or set up recurring payments. Quotes with tax or taxable product lines are blocked. Installments use custom payment items, so they do not reserve product inventory or replace fulfillment, product revenue classification, or the source quote's shipping, discount, and tax breakdown. The original quote stays open with linking notes added. Collect payment through the installments only to avoid collecting the original quote total again. The combined invoice brings together payments from that split group, not unrelated orders.

Can I customize invoice numbers and PDF filenames?

You can edit an invoice's displayed number and add a number prefix or suffix through a template. PDF filenames can include invoice and order numbers, business or customer names, version details, and the invoice date. This is display formatting, not an automatic sequential numbering system.

Does InvoiceWrench email invoices or send reminders?

Invoice email delivery and automated reminders are not available. Download a PDF and share it through your existing communication workflow.

Do expiration dates close Shopify draft orders?

No. Set a valid-until date for a draft invoice or use a default quote-validity period. InvoiceWrench displays the date and flags expired or soon-expiring quotes in its draft list. This does not close, delete, or prevent payment of the Shopify draft order.

Can I create a draft from an abandoned checkout?

Yes. Review an available abandoned checkout and Shopify's recalculated pricing before creating a draft order. Accept pricing differences when required. Already recovered checkouts and unsupported items are blocked. Access depends on Shopify permissions and available checkout data. This creates a draft only; it does not charge the customer, send a recovery email, or recover the sale.

Can I download invoices from a Shopify order page?

The InvoiceWrench Admin block provides View PDF and Download PDF links for saved invoice versions. Add the block to the order page in Shopify Admin. Older versions without complete saved document data must be saved again before a PDF is available.
