How the calculation works
The total is converted to integer currency minor units before it is split. USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and AUD use two decimals; JPY uses none and KWD uses three. Currency selection changes formatting, not exchange rates.
Remaining balance = total − deposit
Regular installment = remaining minor units ÷ payment count, rounded down
Final installment = remaining balance − all preceding installments
A percentage deposit is rounded to the nearest minor unit. A fixed deposit must use the currency’s precision and cannot exceed the total. Any leftover minor units are added to the final installment and clearly disclosed.
Dates are optional. Weekly dates are seven days apart. Monthly dates keep the day you chose: January 31 becomes February’s last day, then March 31. No business-day or holiday adjustments are made.
This is a planning tool. It does not collect payments, create Shopify draft orders, charge interest, or provide financing. Confirm any payment terms with the other party separately.
A worked example
For a USD 1,000 quote with a 20% deposit, the deposit is USD 200 and the remaining balance is USD 800.
Split the balance into three installments: USD 266.66, USD 266.66, and USD 266.68. The final payment includes a USD 0.02 rounding adjustment. Together with the deposit, the schedule equals USD 1,000 exactly.
With a first monthly installment on January 31, 2027, the dates are January 31, February 28, and March 31. The intended day is preserved after February.
A few common questions
Can I leave the deposit or dates blank?
Choose No deposit for a zero deposit. If you enable a fixed or percentage deposit, enter its value; zero is allowed. Dates are optional. An entered first installment date generates the rest of the installment dates. The deposit date is independent and does not determine the first installment date.
Why is the final payment slightly different?
A balance may not divide evenly into the currency’s smallest unit. Each regular installment is rounded down; the final one receives the remainder. That keeps the complete schedule equal to the original total without losing or inventing money.
What happens on the 29th, 30th, or 31st?
Monthly schedules use the selected day where it exists and the last day of shorter months otherwise. They return to the originally selected day in later months. Dates are calendar dates and are not shifted by time zones.
What do copy, CSV, and print include?
They include the currency, deposit and installment amounts, scheduled dates, the total, and the rounding and planning assumptions. The export is created in your browser. It is not uploaded or sent to a customer.
